False Marketing in the CBD Industry

Many CBD companies have been making recent false claims during the Covid-19 Pandemic about how CBD could help prevent or cure Coronavirus. These claims are inaccurate because CBD has not been proven to have a direct effect on the acquisition or prevention of the virus, so when companies make these statements about their products they are actually false marketing. This is something that the FDA has been keeping an eye out, and they have already sent warning letters to 64 companies in the industry.

The FDA will continue to monitor and regulate any CBD companies that engage in this false advertising because it is considered going against their regulations for consumers’ safety. It is important to remember that CBD has not been proven to help with any Coronavirus treatment, but rather can just help with heightened anxiety that may be a result of these stressful times and other symptoms that CBD has been shown to help effectively in the past.
