States are updating their hemp product regulations and specifically how they are allowed to be sold on the market. There are some important rules to keep in mind, especially in Iowa and Louisiana which had new laws recently set in place. In Iowa, smokable hemp is illegal but now hemp and CBD products can be sold and consumed assuming they have all the necessary packing and manufacturing information. This is a significant improvement from what Iowa previously had where CBD was not allowed to be sold over the counter at all.
In Louisiana, there has been recent progress allowing CBD containing food products to now be sold. This was not previously allowed and Louisiana is one of the first three states to move forward with allowing food products on the market to contain CBD. However, just like many other states, smokable hemp is still illegal in Louisiana. Louisiana is enforcing accurate labelling for all CBD products to ensure the safety and health of the consumers.
